The Aquila School expands with new secondary building – providing students with more exceptional learning opportunities

A journey of growth and success

Since opening with just 67 pupils and 28 staff members, The Aquila School community has grown. Today, we have over 1,300 pupils and 260 dedicated staff members, who are dedicated to providing a rich, engaging, and student-focused learning environment.  

Reflecting on this incredible growth, Mr Howsen added: “Celebrating with our community has been so meaningful, especially as we have founding families who have been part of our school family from the very beginning.”

The event was filled with special moments, including outstanding pupil performances that showcased their creativity and talent. As a school that values multilingualism and high-quality Arabic language learning, we conducted the ceremony in both English and Arabic. A highlight of the day was the thrilling abseiling experience—mirroring school opening, as pupils and guests descended from the new building’s roof in an unforgettable celebration.

Exceptional facilities for an outstanding learning experience 

The new secondary block is thoughtfully designed to provide a supportive and enriching learning environment. Key features include: 

• Specialist classrooms for design and food technology 
• A purpose-built black box theatre for creative expression 
• A whole-school canteen fostering a sense of community 
• A roof garden with hydroponics, supporting sustainability and hands-on learning 

Beyond these facilities, we are committed to offering additional learning experiences that go beyond the traditional classroom setting. Our pupils benefit from learning experiences outside of the classroom. extracurricular activities, leadership programmes, educational trips, and whole school learning weeks. These enriching experiences help pupils develop confidence, independence, as well as collaboration, and of course a lifelong love of learning.
