The Aquila School views CAS (community, action and service) activities as an integral part of the education of our children.

As we will grow to become an IB school we are using the language of IB so instead of referring to clubs or after school activities or ECAs, we are using the IB term CAS – standing for community, action and service.

At The Aquila School CAS activities are offered by all teaching staff including the leadership of the school. Then run until 3.40pm three days a week and are open to children from Years 2 to 6. School-led CAS activities are free of charge.

Encouraging children to make choices and to develop independence is a key part of our approach, and as such, all children are surveyed termly to see what CAS activities they want to be available.

This term, based on pupil choice, there is a whole range of CAS activities available – cultural, educational and creative. These include drama, basketball, tennis, making eco bird feeders, gardening, Quran, Arabic calligraphy, cookery, baking, Glee, creative writing and art, to name but a few.

As our school grows, in line with demand from families, we will offer a full wrap-around care programme including a breakfast club, after school clubs and holiday play schemes.
