They shape their own future progressing with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), IB Career-related Programme (IBCP) or BTEC Level 3 pathway.

IB Pathways

As an IB World school, our students reach academic excellence and develop critical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills through the International Baccalaureate pathways. Guided by expert teachers, they approach a variety of subjects from a global perspective.

IB Diploma Programme

At our international baccalaureate school in Dubai, students who progress with the IBDP go further academically, personally and globally, exploring a rigorous curriculum that prepares them to enter prestigious universities worldwide through six subjects:

  • Language and literature: English language and literature
  • Language acquisition: Arabic, Spanish B, German ab initio, Mandarin ab initio and French ab initio
  • Individuals & societies: environmental systems and societies, business, digital societies, history, economics and psychology
  • Sciences: biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, sports, exercise and health science and design technology and resistant materials
  • Mathematics: mathematics analysis and approaches, mathematics application and interpretation
  • The arts: visual arts and art, dance, theatre, film

Students also advance with the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course, the Extended Essay research paper and participate in the Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) programme.

IB Diploma Programme

IB Career-related Programme

Students pursuing a specific career path benefit from the IBCP by combining academic studies with career-focused learning. The programme includes -

  • Academic subjects: Students study environmental systems and societies alongside one diploma subject, choosing from visual arts (art), dance, theatre, design technology (resistant materials), business management, digital societies, or sports, exercise and health science
  • Career-related studies: Learners specialise in one career-focused subject, selecting from performing arts (acting or dance), art & design (art or resistant materials), information technology, enterprise & entrepreneurship, or sport (fitness instructing and personal training)

Additionally, IBCP students study languages tailored to their needs, with Arabic required for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals to comply with local regulations.

IB Career-related Programme

Vocational Pathway

With BTEC Level 3, equivalent to three A Levels, students gain real-world skills and work on industry-focused projects. They learn from professionals and complete assignments that mirror workplace scenarios - preparing for university, apprenticeships and employment.

Performing Arts (Acting)

Students learn from experienced teachers, covering essential acting topics such as:

  • acting techniques and performance skills
  • script analysis and interpretation
  • voice and movement training

Learners gain hands-on experience by regularly performing on stage, building real-world acting skills that lead to exciting opportunities in the field.

At our international baccalaureate school in Dubai, students perform in regular showcases and productions, covering dance techniques, performance theory, choreography and dance history and culture.

Students gain foundational knowledge and skills in the sport and active leisure industry, focusing on health, wellbeing, fitness, self-employment, nutrition, fitness testing, event organisation and business and technology in personal training.

Learners then advance their skills in personal training, sports injuries, functional sports massage, physical activities, ethical issues, marketing communications, corporate social responsibility, sport and leisure facility operations and sports tourism.

At our IB diploma school in Dubai, learners develop technical skills in drawing, painting and sculpture while engaging in visual studies, individual and group projects and hands-on workshops in both 2D and 3D. The course also integrates contextual studies, information technology and professional practice, culminating in a final project showcased at our annual arts evening.

This programme prepares students for further study in prestigious art and design disciplines such as BA (Hons) fine art, BA (Hons) graphic design and BA (Hons) illustration. Additionally, graduates can pursue careers in the creative industries as junior designers, art technicians or photographers.

Students pursuing careers in design, engineering or construction develop practical skills in woodworking and metalworking while studying design and manufacturing processes, materials science and engineering principles. The programme emphasises hands-on learning through real-world projects that reinforce technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities.

The curriculum begins with a strong foundation in 2D and 3D visual arts, technical drawing and digital design. As students progress, they specialise in their chosen field, applying their skills to a final major project that demonstrates both technical mastery and creative innovation.

Information technology

Pupils gain skills and knowledge for various IT roles such as software development, web design and network administration. They study business organisation, planning, accounting, finance, human resource management, marketing and retail.

Through this course, learners prepare for university programmes in computer science, computer forensics, game design, multimedia or information technology, that equips them for work or internships in IT.

This course prepares graduates to become certified fitness instructors or personal trainers, with accreditation from the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) and the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS). A typical day at school in our Post-16 Pathways

Every day at Aquila is filled with safe, happy and ambitious learning experiences for all students. Classes end at 3.30pm from Monday to Thursday and at 11.40am on Fridays - giving students time to rest and participate in extra-curricular activities.

At our IB diploma school in Dubai, students take part in the ASDAN programme designed to meet diverse learning needs through practical and activity-based courses that develop personal, social and work-related skills. Through these programmes students strengthen communication, teamwork, problem-solving and self-management abilities, while also strengthening their academic learning and preparing for further education, training or employment.

Scholarships

At our private British school in Dubai, students gifted in the performing arts can win performance-based scholarships as part of the ISP scholarship programme. These scholarships can cover up to 75% of tuition fees and are awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding ability, passion and commitment in areas such as drama, dance, music and theatre production.
