On Thursday 13th February, families of The Aquila School came together to celebrate the many nationalities present in our community. Currently The Aquila School represents 49 different nationalities from all around the world, of which 38 were represented during this year’s Global Day celebration. The morning started with an aerobics session led by Mr. Howsen, which was followed by a parade of all our nationalities.
The day was full of entertainment from around the globe, with traditional dances from Palestine, Sudan and Egypt, Palestine and the Philippines. This was followed by an array of stands put on by our Aquila families, with food and items from their home countries to share with the whole school.
In our school every lesson really counts so as well as being a happy day, the day was a day of learning – with the focus being on learning about how people spend their leisure time around the world – and we realised that while we are all the same we are all different.
