Principal’s Message
Dear Family,
In the last two weeks we have met many families who are really interested in The Aquila School as they love our ethos. We met over 50 families at the Expat Woman mum’s show at The Address Hotel and even took our win a helicopter ride over Dubai challenge on the road with us! So far the winning height is 600mm so if you think you can beat it, come in and have a go at the challenge.
We are delighted that after nearly 100 interviews we have appointed a Head of Inclusion Mrs Olivia Mottram and a Head of Arabic subjects- Mrs Shereen. We know how important both of these positions are and that is why we were determined to find the right people. We know both Olivia and Shereen will bring lots of valuable experience with them and also really understand The Aquila Way!
Finally, we welcome our new registrar Mrs Aliaa. Mrs Aliaa has lots of experience of working in schools in Dubai and speaks in English and Arabic and is therefore perfectly placed to help families complete the enrollment process.

Our School
Our second open day on the weekend was a great success with lots of families coming to meet our Head of Primary and see our classroom. Our next open day is scheduled for Saturday 12th May between 10am and 2pm. Please remember our refer a friend offer, where you can avail an additional 5% discount on your child’s tuition fees for referring a friend to The Aquila School.
We have been very busy finalising all of our orders over the last two weeks to ensure everything will arrive in plenty of time. The children are in for a treat with a range of outdoor play equipment, interactive and exciting resources all of which will help support amazing learning at The Aquila School.
The experienced construction and design team are well on track to hand the school over to us- in fact it is significantly ahead of schedule!

Stay and Play Sessions
Now that summer has arrived take advantage of our indoor ‘Stay and Play’ sessions here at the school. Our Head of Primary will lead activities designed to keep toddlers and children busy, active and stimulated by offering them a magical, multi-adventure experience in our brand new early years section at our school. All sessions are aimed at children aged 2- 4 years and parents are encouraged to join in or simply relax.
Each session will have a maximum of 10 children and parents can reserve a place by contacting headofprimary@theaquilaschool.com.
Sessions held every Wednesday 2 – 3 pm from the 15th of May until the 20th of June.
Teacher Profile
Shereen Faraj – Head of Arabic
Arabic is a very important subject in our school and so we need an inspirational teacher and leader to ensure that every child makes as much progress as possible and develops a love of this subject. Over the last six months we have interviewed scores of excellent candidates but until now we had not found anyone who ticks all of our boxes. We interviewed Shereen twice and were impressed with her approach to teaching and learning -she even produced an interactive game during the interview to help Kylie and I learn some new words.
Shereen says “ I am thrilled to be the Head of Arabic at The Aquila School.
As a leader, I strive to ensure that all students learn, progress and develop provided with the opportunities to learn based on their abilities and needs. I believe all students should be active learners, through engaging and interactive activities. One of my goals is to create a learning environment that will facilitate long life responsible and accountable learners. In addition to this, my commitment as an educator will be to provide children with a nurturing and challenging educational environment that will ensure their academic success. I am looking forward to being part of Aquila’s community and welcoming your children next year and will do all I can to ensure our children grow to be independent, caring, and thoughtful individuals.”

Part of our school is now open for all families to meet our leaders and see our classrooms for the very first time. Children (and ambitious parents!) can test their creative skills by entering our UAE Design Challenge for a chance to win a helicopter flight over Dubai.
