Principal’s Message
Dear Family,
We had a busy Spring break with lots of meetings with interested children and families in our newly opened FS section of the school which is now open for visitors. We have also been busy interviewing lots of teachers to ensure we find the best teachers possible for The Aquila children. Recently, we have appointed a PE and swimming teacher who has experience of working in Dubai and will ensure our community has a range of sporting opportunities available. This will include regular fun early morning events that the whole family can join in with before the school day begins.

Latest in School Development
Our school is now open for visiting!
Our build is ahead of schedule and we are pleased to open part of the school for tours. We are delighted to be able to hold a number of opening days where families can come and meet the Principal and of the school, see mock classrooms and learn more about The Aquila School. Our upcoming open days are the 5th and 12th of May. Families can also drop in anytime between 8am and 4pm Sunday to Thursday or at other times by appointment.
One of the special features about The Aquila School is that unlike other schools it will not be full of long corridors- there will be natural learning spaces which can be used for children to engage in creative learning activities. Outside there will be a large number of outdoor learning areas and we have been busy this week designing these to provide a range of physical and play based stimuli.
Teacher Profile
Lynsey O’Brien
We are delighted that Lynsey O’Brien will be one of the Founding teachers at The Aquila School. Lynsey has taught in the UK, in Al Ain and recently at an outstanding school in Abu Dhabi.
Principal Wayne Howsen says: “I am delighted to welcome Lynsey as one of the first teachers at The Aquila Lynsey has worked with me for a number of years in our outstanding school and is a fantastic teacher across the primary age range. As well as making sure children develop a love of learning and make great progress in all areas, Lynsey is really skilled at setting up activities that encourage children to be independent and make choices related to their learning. She will also ensure that our netball team do amazingly too!!”

Saturday, May 5th and 12th – The Aquila School Open Days
Part of our school is now open for all families to meet our leaders and see our classrooms for the very first time. Children (and ambitious parents!) can test their creative skills by entering our UAE Design Challenge for a chance to win a helicopter flight over Dubai.
