FOUNDATION STAGE & PRIMARY
Throughout the school we will use Dubai as the starting point of our learning – and where possible we will use the culture and heritage of the UAE – and the exciting plans for the future of Dubai – to make the learning relevant and exciting for our children. In all classes we will encourage the children to make choices and become resilient, ensuring that every child makes as much progress as possible.
At The Aquila School we will follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) from the UK supplemented by themes from the International Primary Curriculum. These are world renowned curricula based on the best international research into early years learning. Our excellent staff will work closely with you to ensure your child’s first experience of school is positive and purposeful and that they develop at a speed which suits their individual needs. For us, it is about every child understanding the positive struggle which comes with learning something new and the opportunity to repeat activities until knowledge, skills and understanding are embedded. Play is central to learning at this stage and children will have time to immerse themselves in activities which capture their interest and imagination.
The National Curriculum for England (NCE) builds on the EYFS curriculum to ensure a smooth transition from Foundation Stage to Year 1. In order to ensure our children are curious, well-challenged and interested, we will enrich this stage of learning with themes from the International Primary Curriculum which has topics to suit every child’s interest. The international community in which we live will enhance our curriculum further through visits and visitors which will truly inspire our children.
